Javique

Industrial Canal, New Orleans

I know Javique through Daniel MasterPIECE Jones.  Javique met me at the boat ramp by the trailer park and marina in the Industrial Canal.  This was my third tinyboatsession in the Industrial Canal and it had two pretty spectacular backdrops of the sunken tugboat and the steamboat NATCHES.  There was more to see out in the canal and I wanted to find that with Javique.  There was a little chute next to an abandoned warehouse.  It was rusted though and on the edges, tripical plants and beautiful flowers grew out from the abandoned industry.  It’s still a canal, but not all of it's in working condition.

Javique had been working and had just finished an album called ‘Oops, All Bangers’ that Daniel had been featured on for a few songs.  We meandered around the canal found some barges and filmed there too.

Javique songs have a lot of thoughts woven in through his lines.  I’m not sure where the line is between raping and slam poetry, and I’m not sure I’m enough of a music critic to understand the difference, but I do know I liked it and it made me think.

During our row, I asked him if he knew any musicians that I might find on my journey back to Seattle from New Orleans.  In fact, he did.  Keep an eye out for Nina Raquel in Season 7 in California. @itsjavique
