I’d heard stories of the two women who hike up mountains and play concerts. I hoped that one day I would find a good reason to reach out to them and see if they would like to do a tinyboatsession. 

I’m loosely connected to a local non-profit called ‘The Mountaineers’ because their publishing arm published my book about rowing across the ocean. Over the years, they have reached out to me to do some talks, and to donate rows for their auction. They liked tinyboatsession so much they asked me to film one for their online auction. This seemed like the perfect reason to reach out to the Musical Mountaineers. 

This dynamic duo is Anastasia and Rose. They were very receptive to the idea. For a location, they suggested the perfect spot. Anastasia and her husband live on a mountain lake.

The lake is in a deep valley in the foothill, surrounded by fir trees and great rocky bluffs that glow at sunset. Rocky islands dot the surface and around corners are nooks, crannies, and coves. Some dead trees poke through the surface of the water. The mixture of water and rock made the acoustics incredible. 

Rose and Anastasia got in with their keyboard and violin and played. Since both their husbands were there, we could also get some footage outside the boat, and that’s always a treat to see it from another perspective. It was about as magical as I imagined it would be. -Jordan & Clarabelle
