Harold Aune
My buddy Brad that I rowed across the Atlantic with invited me to race some tinyboats in Sausalito, California, made by a guy named Harold Aune back in 2009. He makes tiny boat's called 'Whitehalls' after the classical name for this style of small boats. Harold also brought a guy named Adam Kreek (who also did a tinyboatsession). This was in 2009. Adam had just won the gold medal in the Men’s eight in Bejing. We raced, had some beers and some laughs, and somehow over the next few months, I convinced Adam that he wanted to row the ocean four years later. As we prepared for our trip, Harold was always around whenever our project took us to Victoria, up in Canada. I was not surprised when I started looking for songs that Harold would have in his heart. He and Adam would end up doing their Tinyboatsessions in the Whitehall's that Harold builds. Here are some words from Harold in March of 2020. Check out his amazing tinyboats:
“Hi! I’m Harold Aune, co-owner of Whitehall Rowing & Sail in Victoria, BC. that has built thousands of tiny boats called Whitehall Spirits® that get people enjoying seaworthy rowboats for fun, fitness, and adventure. Now, thanks to Clarabelle, singing and making music in a rowboat! I’ve been in a jam band for years but playing outside in a rowboat is totally new fun thing!” Harold, March 2020.
