I met Joel Virgel Vierset through my friend Victoria who met me through one of my rowing tours in Seattle. She also introduced me to Bart. Bart and Joel know each other too. If you watch movies and listen to music, chances are you have seen Joel. If you look him up, you will see one of those fascinating careers in the show business that stretches decades through all kinds of entertainment worldwide.
Joel told me he was a long-distance swimmer. In his French Caribbean accent, he told me, “I am not getting into the boat. I will swim to the boat. I will sing, and I will swim away.” And that is exactly what he did. As he bid me adue to find more waters to swim in, he asked to see the video. He looked at it and gave me a nod of approval. “As long as I look cool, I only want to do things that are cool." Thus, with this advice, he turned on his heel and walked away.
