Nora Jones

I met Nora Jones through Sandy Lam, also of season one. They both worked at the Center for Wooden Boats. Sandy did some songs earlier in the week, and she had reached out to Nora, and they both came to the Arboretum where I had rowed my boat, Clarabelle. I felt like the songs she picked seemed to really resonate the moment we were in, but I'm kind of a sucker for any song with rowing in it. With all of Tinyboatsession season one, I asked them to say some words about themselves to mark the moment.

“I’m a 29-year-old person that moved to Seattle two years ago. I like sailing, biking, playing with my dogs, playing music, and hanging out with my wife—I got married last September. I’m a captain. I’m currently unemployed. I was the Youth Program Manager at the Center for Wooden Boats. I’m waiting for things to settle down and seeing what’s going to happen next. Till then, I’ve been making music. My wife and I just finished teaching a biology lesson to your niece and nephew. I’ve been splicing dog leashes, walking the dogs, napping, biking, running, and making cookies—hopefully, this doesn’t leave us broke.” Nora, March 2020
