Vicente is a Flamenco singer from New Mexico. I met Vicente through Emily. Emily works at Gig Harbor Boatworks--the boat builders that built Clarabelle, my rowboat. This is the vessel I did most of Tinyboatsession Season 1 and Season 2 on. When I decided to take Tinyboatsession on the road, I was far from Clarabelle. I would have to find boats and musicians. Emily had spent time in New Mexico. She loves Flamenco music, and her connections tapped me into the Albuquerque music scene. It seemed right that a connection through Clarabelle would lead to a connection to music thousands of miles away in the desert. Vicente would introduce me to Moh and Felix.

Vicente called me up the day before. He’s got a big warm personality of a raconteur who has dedicated his life to studying his craft. Its practice has brought him around the world but with the kind of evident kindness that remains grateful and down to earth. He dressed like a flamenco rock star turned the boat into a stage. Vicente sings for the National Institute of Flamenco out of Albuquerque and tours nationally and internationally. —Jordan and Clarabelle
