Xiomara Quinones & Eloy Cito Gonzales
Rio Grande, Albuquerque, New Mexico
Xiomara I know from Eloy. The two of them had come together with Sarah to do the very first tinyboatsession to incorporate dance. At the end of the performance, Xiomara and Eloy had a few songs they also wanted to sing in a tinyboat.
The sun was going down so we would have to be quick. Eloy brought out a second guitar. I’d only ever seen him play acoustic for his flamenco work, so it was fun to see that he also played electric. Xiomara had some beautiful songs. One of which she wrote, and the other they both wrote.
In between the songs, she thanked me for being a part of this. I thanked her and told her that none of this would have happened without artists who liked the idea of singing a song in a tinyboat. The sun was setting and had reached that sweet spot between earth and sky that lit up the bottom of the clouds for one more song before it got too dark.
I think tinyboatsessions are beautiful. I think they are fun. The tinyboatsession is the moment and the footage is the souvenir. I hope whoever’s watching feels a tenth of the way it has made me feel. Instagram: @xioq02 , @eloycitogonzalesofficial
